If you've ever bred or owned dogs any length of time, then you already know that once in a great while, one comes along that is that very special dog, that once in a lifetime dog, that you'll never forget. For me, that would "Drew."
Born in the back of my car on the way to vet, Drew was special from the start. He was a fat roly poly puppy, and bore the same general shape as a certain comedian who had his own show at the time. In fact, Drew's littermates were Mimi and Oswald, if you haven't figured out yet that I'm a Drew Carey fan! Drew the dog slimmed down over time, but never lost his goofiness.
I could say that Drew enjoys long moonlit walks on the beach and candlelight dinners, but in reality, he enjoys staring at the house when he's outside, eating, and sleeping in his crate, occasionally taking a break to gnaw on some rawhides. His best friends are me, his granddaughter Gingerale, and Cooley the cat. Drew also still chases the girl dogs around, though they seem to be a lot harder for him to catch these days.
All kidding aside, Drew has been a wonderful producer, with multiple group, specialty, and sweepstakes winning offspring and great-offspring. He's now over 14 years old and still looks like he did when he was 6. I still look at him sometimes and can't believe that I bred him.
